JewelACL™

For Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction  – JewelACL

The JewelACL is a polyester permanent implant for anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction. It is matched in tensile strength to the semitendinosus hamstring tendon, which is typically 1200 N, and can be used with or without an additional tissue graft in either Partial tissue Graft Sparing (PGS) or Total tissue Graft Sparing (TGS) ACL reconstruction procedures.

The JewelACL can be implanted using modern ACL guide wire systems with a similar anteromedial or transtibial surgical technique to that utilized for hamstring grafts.

Description

The JewelACL is indicated for ACL insufficiency requiring reconstruction. It can be used in conjunction with a hamstring graft for a partial tissue-sparing reconstruction or implanted alone for a total tissue-sparing reconstruction.

Benefits

  • Continuous tubular form with suitably placed side openings can accommodate a hamstring tendon
  • Woven structure allows natural tissue ingrowth
  • Unique gas plasma treatment process renders the surface hydrophilic
  • Secured to the bone with cortical suspensory fixation with loop or soft-threaded interference screws.

MPFL Technique

For Reconstruction of the Medial Patellofemoral Ligament

This mini-invasive technique utilises a wide, open weave tape to stabilise the patella against lateral translation. The tape is looped through and around the patella and secured to the femoral attachment site utilising an interference screw. The medial patellofemoral ligament (MPFL) is thus reconstructed without the need to harvest any autogenous tissue.

Description

Poly-Tapes are indicated for patients requiring soft tissue approximation and reconstruction of ligaments and tendons.

Benefits

  • Autografts and allografts are unnecessary: a quick and easy technique with no donor site morbidity and fewer incisions
  • Only requires a small bone tunnel in the patella, reducing the potential for patellar fracture
  • Continuous longitudinal yarns provide the device with sufficient strength to allow early mobilization
  • The Poly-Tape provides an open weave structure that will be surrounded and filled by the patient’s own tissue

PatellarTape System™

For Patellar Tendon Reconstruction

The PatellarTape System comprises a wide, open weave Poly-Tape implant (20 mm x 800 mm) with associated disposable instrumentation to repair a ruptured patellar tendon, without the need to harvest autogenous tissue.

Description

The PatellarTape System is indicated for patients requiring patellar tendon reconstruction. It is particularly recommended for cases with delayed diagnosis.

Benefits

  • Provides excellent intrinsic strength and allows early mobilization
  • The use of metalwork and wire cerclage is unnecessary, avoiding the associated high complication rate and problems of secondary removal; device is knotted and sutured.
  • None of the risks or availability problems of allograft
  • No donor site morbidity as encountered with autograft
  • The open weave structure of Poly-Tape acts as a scaffold for tissue ingrowth
  • A simple technique with a low complication rate

QuadsTape System™

Quadriceps Tendon Reconstruction

The QuadsTape System comprises a wide, open weave Poly-Tape implant (20 mm x 800 mm) with associated disposable instrumentation to repair a ruptured quadriceps tendon, without the need to harvest autogenous tissue.

Description

The QuadsTape System is indicated for patients requiring quadriceps tendon reconstruction. It is particularly recommended for cases with delayed diagnosis.

Benefits

  • Provides excellent intrinsic strength and allows early mobilization
  • Use of metalwork and wire cerclage is unnecessary, avoiding the associated high complication rate and problems of secondary removal; device is knotted and sutured.
  • None of the risks or availability problems of allograft
  • No donor site morbidity as encountered with autograft
  • Open weave structure of Poly-Tape acts as a scaffold for tissue ingrowth
  • Straightforward technique
